Mr Doodles

Some pictures and some info on “Ed the Zed”

I bought “Ed” in November of 2011.

The guy who’d bought him, needed to move him on quickly, as he’d been given a new Company van (which he had to use) and then had no space to park any other vehicle, so I’m quite pleased with what I paid for him.

Originally an MGR Demonstrator, he was originally Registered as BF52FVV on the 18th of October 2002.

He was then sold to a Company Director, who kept him maintained regardless of cost, so included with the car, was a fully stamped MGR Service History, every bill since day one and in the last 18 months of of ownership, the guy replaced the Inlet Manifold, Thermostat housing, cooling fan, and cam belts, all with genuine MGR parts!

I’ve done the following jobs since owning him;

Got rid of the swimming pool in the boot, which was a combination of split rear lights seals (replaced with new genuine gaskets) and re-sealing the N/S/R wing trim strip that was also leaking.

Adjusted the petrol filler flap, as it had been slammed shut a few times and no longer sat flush with the rear wing.

Changed the head unit to a JVC CD/Tuner

Fitted Genuine front mud flaps

Replaced the rotten shannon tube with silicon tubing

Had to replace a rear light cluster, after being backed into in Sainsbury’s Car Park (thankfully no panel damage)

Done the Plenum “Spy Hole” mod (and replaced the pollen filter whilst the covers were off)

Fitted some “Crofts” Chrome Door Protectors

Fitted some Chrome Mirror Caps

Fitted a modified hand brake compensator

The excellent “Auto Boot” Mod

Fitted one of Jules’ Gold Fan resistors and his Plenum guards

Done the bonnet release cable mod and fitted some headlamp protectors that I managed to pick up off eBay.

Plans for the future (when funds allow) are to have the bumpers re-painted (they both have scuffs) and to have the alloys re-furbed at the same time, as they’ve seen better days.

Kind Regards

Mark (Mr Doodles)
